Edited by: Akita T on 11/08/2008 23:19:32 Eastern Europe and all but a slight variation of the last way seem unnatural to me, now that we got plastic/polymer banknotes. And I know at least two or three other variations of various methods shown before that people around me would use back when we still employed paper money.
My prefered method (lately) goes something like this (I'm a right-hander): hold cash in right hand, use left hand index finger to grab the bottom of the pile, use left thumb to apply counter pressure to rest of banknotes above, slide bottom-most piece of cash in the left hand, hold thumb over it, move back right hand about 50% of the cash width to separate stacks, grab next bottom-most banknote in right hand with left hand index finger, remove left thumb from counted stack to apply counter-presure and repeat previous moves until all cash is counted.

It an get messy with larger numbers of banknotes, indeed crappy example ASF zipped vid poor webcam, poor framerate, poor lighting, but you get the idea.

Plus, some of it is (literally) washable, since it's not made from paper

Originally by: Faind Some of the ways shown you can't see the denomination of the bill your counting so unless the amount is printed on the bottom middle in those countrys then I don't buy it.
Like others already pointed out, unlike USD, a lot of other currencies have banknotes that are both of different colours and sizes for various denominations... you only need to see a small portion of the banknote to know what denomination it might be.
